
When I started hiking it was really hard to find proper gear list. To keep this short, I just want to say that this is my list and different people can carry different things. Whatever works best for you is ok.
This list is for summer/autumn hikes lasting a couple of days or more than a week. I’ll write about food later, so it won’t be included here.
The list:
Backpack and its rain cover
Compass and map
Fist aid kit (bandages, carrier bandage, patch, blister patch, sports tape, medical cream, allergy medicine, tactical rescue blanket, painkiller)
Tent
Sleeping bag
Sleeping bag liner (not necessary)
Camping pillow (not necessary)
Sleeping pad
Matches (lighter, birch bark)
Camping gas stove (BRS 3000T)
Fuel (gas)
Pot (Toaks 900ml titanium pot)
Spork (Spoon fork)
Knife
Water bottle (water filter?)
Headlamp
Dish brush and dish soap (biodegradable)
Toothbrush and paste
Toilet paper
Hair comb (not necessary)
Wet wipes
Travel towel
Sunscreen (summer)
Lip balm
Ear plugs
Deodorant (I usually have a small or almost empty one. But this is definitely more preferences than necessary)
One little garbage bag
Mosquito repellent and a mosquito hat (summer)
Duct tape (just a little if something needs to be fixed)
Phone, powerbank and charger
Clothes:
Warm underlayer (pants and shirt)
T-shirt
3x socks
Wool socks
How many days x underwear
Down jacket
Mittens and beanie
Camp shoes (really light shoes)
I usually wear hiking pants and a thick cotton shirt. Then I have a waterproof jacket or poncho with me. I have hiking boots, but I often wear barefoot shoes, so the weight is lighter. You can hike with running shoes, but I recommend bringing waterproof shoes with you. The feeling that your shoes are getting wet is not the best…
Okay, so here it is! Some might go with even lighter backpack than me, but this is a list I’ve used many times and it works for me.
